Issue #169 :: The “Bombay Beach” Edition :: 3:07:2018

Bombay Beach…

On Sunday, I was shamed by a nearly-30 year old to get rid of all my CDs and cassette tapes. I estimate I’ve had them since about… oh, 1992.

I would be sad but I know someone shopping at the Goodwill in Alameda is going to be STOKED to get my Counting Crows CD.

(No issue next week or the one after. I’ll see you again March 28.)

P.S. Sha la, la, la, la, la, la. Yeah.

Bombay Beach Biennale
Pssst: A little birdie just sent me info on this year’s Bombay Beach Biennale (BBB), the underground art festival in Salton Sea. I can’t share the dates but can share that it’s happening real soon

As an anti-establishment and community building experience, the entire event is free of charge; it is not about making money. There is no advertising. There is no marketing. The only agenda is saving the Sea.

Real things you can actually buy: yay!

Matchy-matchy his & hers clothing sets by Sir Charles of Phoenix

I know… I let out an audible gasp of delight when Charles Phoenix announced his new his & hers clothing line! The matchy-matchy midcentury-inspired sets are sold under the brand Sir Charles of Phoenix (love it!) and are available as individual pieces in a wide range of sizes through Pinup Girl Clothing

Good idea: “Get Your Own Kyle”

Get Your Own Kyle

You can get Kyle

Ever been at a crossroads in your life, having all the tools you need to succeed, but paralyzed not knowing what direction to head in next…?

(Yeah, me too.)

My (absolutely brilliant) friend Kyle Kesterson is at that place right now. Instead of simply drifting along, he’s turned his “blank canvas syndrome” into a game. He’s put together this site (Get Your Own Kyle: http://getyourownkyle.com) and is taking requests to help him design his “next chapter.” How cool is that?

He told me that he already has several awesome proposals, just three days in.

(I’m totally stealing this idea and making it my own at some point.)
