There’s no theme like this no theme…

Folks, I held the coolest event over the weekend…COCKTAILS and COLORING BOOKS for GROWNUPS! It was so fun!

To note: some of the coloring books <cough –from Last Gasp— cough> were REALLY NSFW…

Not everyone could join us for the fun, so I’m raffling off a  ‘Cocktails and Coloring Books for Grownups’ prize package this week. ENTER HERE.

Also this week, our Artist-in-Residence is not holding a scavenger hunt…instead, he’s GIVING AWAY FREE ART TO STRANGERS. See details below.

Rusty Blazenhoff

p.s. Send me an email if you’d like to be invited to the next event!

“One of the most inspiring, weird and off-kilter collections of curated kitschy ephemera for the big-brained.”

A request from my friend Elliotte: “A group of badass ladies I’m part of are putting together bags to hand out to homeless folks during Santa Con. We want to make it more than just a huge raging pub crawl, and help people in need. We want to provide toiletries, clean socks, a non perishable snack, pads, tampons etc. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. If you have anything you would like to contribute, please let me know. We’re putting them together on Dec 10. Thanks!!!!!”
Want to help? Contact Elliotte at: Elliotteb@gmail.com

Carl Collins' Odyssey in 2012

YOU GUYS, THIS.

Sometimes I hear about something and I can barely wait to tell you all about it. THIS is one of these things. I do try to keep my ears open to hear about wonderful art and experiences, but sometimes it takes a little while to reach my ear.* Get THIS, the art group called Odyssey Works creates “massive, immersive performances for one-person audiences.” One person.

“An Odyssey can involve a trip to a mountain in Mexico to listen to a symphony in a canyon, being tied to a stake like Joan of Arc, a bus ride with your mother, making maps of emotion, a feast in the middle of a river, reading a forged Italo Calvino novel, or being buried alive.”

“We believe that each person in this world deserves to be moved, to have a moment where they are brought to their knees by beauty…” — Ayden LeRoux of the art group, Odyssey Works

Yes.

DON’T MISS THIS: The wonderful Lydia Laurenson is hosting a workshop to create a personal odyssey on Sunday, November 29th at 1 PM in San Francisco. It’s killing me that I can’t make it, but YOU should go. Yes, YOU!

“An Odyssey Works production doesn’t scream ‘art’ so much as whisper it into the subconscious retroactively.”

ALSO, THIS: There will be an Odyssey Works book, so they can take what they do to more audiences. It will be titled Odyssey Works: Six Proposals for a More Beautiful World and you can pre-order it on Kickstarter now (like I did). If I had 10 grand, I would totally be buying one of their day-long experiences for myself.

*By the way, if YOU know about something delightful, please share it with me so I can tell the Others.

November Artist-in-Residence: Adam Davis
