CONSUME…

Drum roll, please! The winner of the “Cocktails and Coloring Books” prize package is…

VICTORIA HEIFNER of Milkfed Press!!

Happy “Thursday,” everyone! As per our (totally made-up) tradition, I’ll be consuming some “jin deui” with the girl in Oakland’s Chinatown on “Thursday” morning.

Then, I’m going on a road trip to Los Angeles with my dear friend Jessica (aka Kooky Kitsch). We have some AWESOME plans. Of course, I’ll be posting photos to Instagram.

If you’re in the L.A. area, please meet up with us at Clifton’s on Saturday night. We’re NOT going for dinner, just drinks. 8 PM. Hope to see you there!

Lastly, a million thank yous to Adam T. Davis, November’s artist-in-residence. I haven’t heard, but I hope you got some of his FREE ART. In his last week, he has another cool offer…see below.

Next month, we welcome Janelle Hessig as December’s artist-in-residence!

A request from my friend Elliotte: “A group of badass ladies I’m part of are putting together bags to hand out to homeless folks during Santa Con. We want to make it more than just a huge raging pub crawl, and help people in need. We want to provide toiletries, clean socks, a non perishable snack, pads, tampons etc. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. If you have anything you would like to contribute, please let me know. We’re putting them together on Dec 10. Thanks!!!!!”

FREE ART FOR STRANGERS

MAKING NEW FRIENDS WITH MIXTAPES!
For the next week, I’ll send anyone who sends me their address either a mix cd or an actual mix tape. It will be music from the bands I’ve been in (Gnarboots, DESA, Link 80), projects I have helped with, unreleased electronic music, music my friends have made, etc. It will come with a handmade liner, to make you feel like you’re back in high school! I’ll also throw in some drawings from my files that I’ve been trying to empty out.
HERE’S THE CATCH: you have to send me something back. It can be your own mix cd, or a piece of art, or a zine, or a nice handwritten letter. I just want to get some fun mail in return. EMAIL ME to start the fun.
Thanks! Adam

HEY YOU
If YOU would like to co-curate an issue of Rusty’s Electric Dreams, I’d love to hear your idea! Please email me: rusty@blazenhoff.com.

Know about a cool event? Share it. I’ll do my best to include it in the next issue.

“There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says ‘Morning, boys. How’s the water?’ And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes ‘What the hell is water?’…

It is about the real value of a real education, which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness; awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over:

‘This is water.’

‘This is water.’

Rusty’s Electric Dreams is a weekly inbox zine by Rusty Blazenhoff. These personally curated missives are beacons to signal and celebrate the global tribe of weird, wonderful, and “different” people (“the Others“).
