Rusty’s Electric Dreams, an inbox zine by pop culture activist Rusty Blazenhoff
Issue #068 :: The “23 and moi” Edition :: 01:20:2016

23 and moi…

Thanks to a mention by my friend Dan Lewis, in his e-newsletter titled Now I Know, Rusty’s Electric Dreams (RED) is sporting over 600 new subscribers! If you are one of them, THANK YOU for giving this thing a go.

Wait, what IS this thing?

I call it an “inbox zine” which is a shout-out to my early paper zine days. It’s my rudimentary attempt to show you a slice of where my brain is focused on every week. And, not just *my* brain, as I source my amazing, and quite progressive, community too. I do my darndest to pay attention to what is important to them, to what art they are creating, to where they spend their money and time. They inspire me.

RED is a mouthpiece for them (…you?).

If YOU know of something that needs a spotlight, please let me know. I will put it under consideration it for a future issue. Start here, don’t be shy: rusty@blazenhoff.com

Ok, ok, now that I got that out of my system, I want to share something with you. Folks, I had dinner with Dr. James Fadiman (and friends, thank you friends)! You know, the researcher who studies the effects on people who are microdosing psychedelics. I can’t say much about our meeting except to say it was wonderful, a total honor, and that the good doctor is now here reading RED along with you all.

Check out his book, it’s called The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide.

LASTLY, and this has TOTALLY been a longer-than-average intro, January 23rd marks my one year anniversary officially being Rusty Blazenhoff. If you’re just tuning in, LONG story. Tl;dr: it’s a good thing.

p.s. Sometimes these emails get cut short, hit [View entire message] down at the bottom, to see everything. Ok, here we go…

“Rusty knows what’s cool. Not only that, but she’s an amazing writer who can communicate complicated and obscure topics to a mainstream audience. She knows who to talk to and what questions to ask. Her knowledge of pop culture is unmatched. When I want to know if something is going to be popular, I ask Rusty…”

HEY YOU, YES YOU
If YOU would like to co-curate an issue of Rusty’s Electric Dreams, I’d love to hear your idea! Please email me: rusty@blazenhoff.com.Know about a cool event? Share it. I’ll do my best to include it in the next issue.

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”

Rusty’s Electric Dreams is a weekly inbox zine by Rusty Blazenhoff. These personally curated missives are beacons to signal and celebrate the global tribe of weird, wonderful, and “different” people (“the Others“).
