Rusty's Electric Dreams

Rusty’s Electric Dreams, an inbox zine by Rusty Blazenhoff
Issue #094 :: The “Fortified” Edition :: 07:20:2016

Fortified…

From time to time, I wrangle someone into helping me curate this zine. 🙂

This week’s issue is co-curated by one of my longtime pals, Heidi Bennett. I first met her many years ago through Flickr which, at that time, was a great way to find people near you with shared interests. She was the manager of Julie’s Coffee & Tea here in Alameda, California (one of the Island’s treasure!).

Now, as a Certified Professional Creative Life Coach, she partners with artists, performers, and other multi-creative people (you?) to support their radical, unconventional careers.

A singer and artist herself, she understands the creative mind and offers a compassionate, non-judgmental approach with her coaching.

What else…?

Oh! She’s got a Self Care Coloring Camp coming up in early August! Learn about her other upcoming camps in Alameda and her coaching practice at her website.

Please read her piece on how to Find the Good & Dance Away the Bad.

Praise: “A vote for Rusty is a vote for you.”

An excerpt from Epiphany Jordan’s Safety in Numbers:

“When someone comes to us for a session, they are scared. Sometimes they have suffered a sudden loss; other times their crisis is a long time in the making. Their bodies are tense and weary and distrustful, and I know that we will have to work hard to make them feel safe and in control before we can touch them. We honor them with our words and actions, and let them know that our only goal for the next hour is to serve and care for them. Slowly we acclimate them to the idea that they will be touched by a stranger, and that we will tell them what we’re doing every step of the way…” [Read more…]

Epiphany Jordan knows firsthand how skin hunger keeps us feeling alone, ashamed and isolated in our bodies. Over the past three years she has been studying both the biological mechanics of touch and oxytocin, and the cultural/social environment around it. Her Austin, Texas-based Karuna Sessions allows her to embody compassion, providing other humans with tangible emotional support and deep physical stress relief via platonic touch.
