This time it’s personal…

“How do you come up with the zine’s name every week anyway?” no one ever asks.

WELL.

“It’s the eleventh hour on a Tuesday and I want to stop working and eat some dinner, so I make something up,” I said hungrily.

P.S. I missed you all! Taking just one week off seems much longer. Big issue ahead.

Portland’s got polka dots!

Polka Dot Courthouse Square

Each one is 12-feet wide!: My pal Bill Will got the opportunity to cover Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square with giant colorful polka dots! The playful installation is titled “Polka Dot Courthouse Square” and encourages safe distancing while gathered in public.

Real things that actually exist: yes way!

LIKE: Pee-wee Herman has a new online shop! That’s where you can find these swell new “Pee-wee for President” political buttons (we already have a “Francis” in office, so let’s ignore that one). I love that two of the slogans are riffs on old ones. “In your guts, you know he’s nuts” was LBJ’s team’s take on Barry Goldwater’s “In your heart, you know he’s right.” And “I Like Pee-wee… LIKE!” references Dwight D. Eisenhower’s famous “I Like Ike” slogan. It also references THIS. Good stuff.

Featured Event

[8/9] The Plague Doctor Parade returns: “Covid Danse Macabre—we shambled through Golden Gate Park today, some plague doctors and victim, with Death walking dead last, playing some dirge-carnival music in a socially-distanced plague theater happening, past the happy picnickers lounging maskless on the grassy lawns amid the flowers.”
