The “Still standing” Edition :: Issue #279, Rusty’s Electric Dreams

“Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did; Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid…”

– Elton John

Still standing…

To me, “roadtrip music” means familiar sing-out-loud songs. “Classics.” Honestly, for the most part, I have rather pedestrian taste in music. So I look to my streaming service to surprise me with their pre-selected hits from the sixties, seventies and/or eighties. (Hey, hush… there’s no shame in that.)

So, on Sunday, as we headed out on our two-hour drive to the American River, SJ started up one of these classic mixes. Soon, each of the following songs played. I told her they were on the “personal soundtrack of my life.” She was mildly amused (which is about all you can ask for from a 15-year-old).

— Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”
— Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”
— Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking”
— Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop”

Notice a theme? LOL! Folks, I am nothing if not resilient af.

What survivor anthems am I missing? What do you dear readers recommend I add to this playlist?

P.S. In anticipation of Burning Man in the Multiverse, I checked out BRCvr the other night on AltspaceVR (no special equipment required on a PC). It’s WILD!  Here’s me flying around the man (his 2014 self):

As seen on the Internets

No special equipment required: If you’re reading this early on Wednesday morning, go outside RIGHT NOW and watch the Perseids meteor showers. They’re peaking from 2 a.m. to dawn this morning! Don’t forget to make lots of wishes
