Put the needle on the record…

Welcome back, Burning Man friends. While you were hiding in cover from dust storms, hanging out with friends, and checking out AMAZING art, I was settling in at home… kicking sugar out of my system. Whee.

Speaking of the east coast, in ancestry news, I’ve just learned that my 11th great-grandfather Gov. Thomas Mayhew was kind of a big deal on Martha’s Vineyard back in the ye olde days. I would like to think that he was like the “Emperor Norton of the east”…though I don’t really have proof. Still, neato.

Last week I mentioned that September is my birthday month and that I’d be announcing a game. Well, below you will find the game. I hope you will play along!

Finally, a while back I picked up some brand new, green “Participant” award ribbons at a thrift store. At some point, the majority of them ended up in the hands of my Texas friend, Epiphany, who then proceeded to award them to people. Waitresses, friends, etc. Big hit! I had already been giving a great deal of thought about digital “likes” and what a “real-life” like would look like. Next thing I knew I had a box of special blue award ribbons in my possession. Then I started handing them out, in real life, to people I like in real life. Then, people wanted to buy them to give out to their friends, in real life.

Now they’re on EtsySpread the Like.

And now, a special message

Happy 45th birthday to me
You guys, my 45th birthday is coming up in a few weeks!

Years ago, a friend of mine had a “33 1/3” birthday party where she spun vinyl LPs. I thought that was a cool idea and imagined doing that for my 45th, but with everyone sharing their favorite 45 RPM singles.

So, here we are. It’s September 2015 and my birthday quickly approaches.

Instead of having a big bash, I have a SPECIAL REQUEST to ask of all of you. I want to take a musical trip down memory lane, because –seriously– where would we be without music??

Here’s what you can do:

  1. SHARE the name and artist of your all-time favorite vintage single from the 1960s, 1970s, or 1980s.
  2. TELL me about it: like…why you love it, what it means to you, etc.
  3. SEND a photo or video too.

EMAIL ME at rusty@blazenhoff.com before Monday, September 21st, 2015 with all the info.

TUNE IN: I’ll share selected picks and stories (including mine) in the September 23rd* issue.

Groove-y?

–Rusty.
