Treats, not tricks…

Oh, dang you, Halloween, you snuck up on me again. Raise your hand if you’re going as a jar of Fluff for Halloween!!*

So, my comedian friend** Laura House appears to have coined a term to describe the beauty industry, “Big Ugly.” (You know, like “Big Pharma.”) My response, “Diet Industry=Big Fattie.” It all made me think of this quote from Naomi Wolf, “A culture fixated on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty, but an obsession about female obedience.”

Apparently, I’m not into obedience.

The good news? Wolf also wrote, “Women who love themselves are threatening; but men who love real women, more so.”

Raise your hand if you want to be threatening with me***!

p.s. Sneak peek: November’s Artist-in-Residence has been settled. Eee.

*I’m not, but hope someone else will. Perhaps, YOU!
**Yes, I only have one comedian friend.

In 24 consecutive hours, Doctor Popular whipped up a new comic book. It’s called The Order Of The Snail, a comic book about secret societiesHe created after the sudden collapse of The Latitude Society, that “real secret club/art project.”  Doc writes, “The book follows a kid named Mason Waters who has created his very own secret society. A society of one. One day Mason invites Tim, an estranged older friend, to join The Order. Things change quickly and soon Mason feels like an outsider in his own club.”
