Issue #048 :: The “Back to school” Edition :: 09:02:2015

Back to school…

I know everyone’s at Burning Man, but I showed up for work anyway. This zine isn’t going to write itself, you naked desert-loving hippies! Besides, you all seem to have a good cell connection out there. I made this issue extra long with lots of links, so you’ll have something to do in the middle of the hotter-than-Hades day.

A quick shout out to Gregory and Charles of the Edward Gorey House museum in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts for making our visit spectacular!

Well, no sooner did we get off the plane from our trip to Cape Cod, when I had to get up early and walk SJ to school. Yep, it’s that time of year again.

Congrats to my young friends, Isabella and Hunter, who have started COLLEGE! And to Jade for starting HIGH SCHOOL and to Lilliana for starting KINDERGARTEN! But, especially for my dear daughter, Scarlett, for starting FIFTH FREAKING GRADE!*

In other news… Take note, dear readers, September is my birthday month (the big four five!!). I have a fun task for you, if you’re up for it, which I’ll announce in a future issue.

“One of the most inspiring, weird and off-kilter collections of curated kitschy ephemera for the big-brained.”

KALW’s Ashleyanne Krigbaum recommends the podcast, The Specialist:

“Thoughtful, funny, surprising, short, and made by journalists — ‘The Specialist’ is a podcast that should be on the top of your queues. Meet the sound police! Hear strategies from an old skool matchmaker! Find out what a baby’s butt has to do with the quality of ice in a rink!”
